Delta CP Oyeniyi Tours Asaba Flashpoints, Warns Officers Against Extortion and Misconduct

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, continued his visibility policing and supervisory tour across key formations and flashpoints in Asaba, Ugbolu and its environs.
The tour covered critical points including the Second Niger Bridge, Asaba Head Bridge, and the Ugbolu–Illah Road intervention point, where the CP assessed security deployments and addressed officers on duty. He commended their efforts while reminding them that the command will not tolerate any form of misconduct or complaints from the public. He directed that officers must be properly dressed, maintain a smart appearance, and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.
Addressing personnel at these locations, the CP emphasised that the essence of their deployment is to watch, monitor, and correct any wrongdoing observed within their areas of responsibility. He charged officers to remain vigilant, observe movements professionally, and engage members of the public with courtesy and respect. He warned against any form of abuse, harassment, or incivility, stressing that policing must be carried out with a human face and in strict adherence to human rights standards.
As part of the tour, the CP also visited the Area Command, Asaba, as well as the ‘A’ Division, ‘B’ Division, and ‘C’ Division in Asaba Metropolis, where he addressed the DPOs and personnel of the various division. He reiterated the need for professionalism, discipline, and integrity, while specifically warning them to desist from extortion. He noted that such conduct undermines public trust and will attract strict disciplinary action.
The CP reassured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of life and property, while urging members of the public to support the Police with credible and timely information.
