Alleged Defamation: Ighodalo Vows to Sue Edo APC Chairman

Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2024 Edo election, has vowed to sue Jarrett Tenebe, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for alleged slander.

In a letter from the law firm Banwo & Ighodalo, the PDP gubernatorial candidate accused Tenebe of making false and injurious claims in a widely distributed film about him.

It was noted that Tenebe, in response to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s mistake during the presentation of the 2025 budget to the state parliament, accused Ighodalo of stealing billions.

Governor Okpebholo, who appeared before the Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday, had difficulty reading the exact figures of the state budget estimate.

The governor’s mistake subsequently trended on social media platforms, with numerous individuals expressing differing views.

Tenebe claimed in a video about the incident that Obaseki and Ighodalo would not have made such a mistake because they had already stolen billions.

In response to the widely shared video, Ighodalo granted Tenebe seven days to submit a thorough retraction, public apologies, and promises that no additional defamatory comments would be made.
