Oto-Awori LCDA, Lagos – Twenty-four-year-old Ikechukwu Damilola, popularly known as Transformation King, has crossed the 90-hour mark in his ambitious 120-hour hairdressing marathon as he pursues a Guinness World Record.

The record attempt, taking place at Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Iyana-Era, Ijanikin, is being closely monitored for validation by Guinness World Records. With just 30 hours left to complete the challenge, Damilola remains focused and determined to make history.

The marathon has attracted significant support from the Oto-Awori LCDA, with the Executive Chairman, Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, playing a major role as sponsor and supporter of the initiative. The council has provided the platform for the event while mobilizing residents and stakeholders to rally behind the young stylist.

Damilola, a Lagos-based hairdresser and aspiring world record holder, studied at the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Oto-Ijanikin—formerly Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education—where he obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Physical and Health Education, Kinetics.

His passion for hairdressing began in 2006, and over the years he has honed his skills while teaching the craft vocationally in several schools. According to him, his journey has been driven by a firm belief that talent and vocational skills can create wealth and open doors to limitless opportunities.

The marathon has also drawn visits from top Lagos State government officials and political figures, who came to encourage the young record seeker. Among them are Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende (RAK), Commissioner for Youth and Social Development; Hon. Sule Tolani, Commissioner for Tertiary Education; Hon. Surajudeen Tijani (Emir), member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ojo Constituency II; and representatives of Hon. Bolaji Kayode Robert, APC candidate for the House of Representatives, Ojo Federal Constituency.

Supporters say the turnout reflects Lagos State’s commitment to nurturing youth talent and promoting skills development.
