Ganduje Appoints Wike’s ally, Tony Okocha, APC leader in Rivers

According to Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Tony Okocha is the party’s leader in Rivers State.
Ganduje claims that the national secretariat of the APC has acknowledged the executive committee, which is led by Okocha, a supporter of Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as the party’s official leadership structure in Rivers State.

At the party’s freshly elected state executive committee’s inauguration on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Ganduje made this announcement.
The national chairman of the APC thanked the newly elected members and gave an explanation of why the party chose to have the inauguration in Rivers State rather than at the Abuja location of the APC National Headquarters.
He underlined that by taking this action, the party is attempting to ensure that there is no separation between the national and state leadership.

Ganduje emphasized internal democracy as a fundamental component of the state executive committee’s duties and charged them with giving it top priority.
Additionally, he emphasized the significance of promoting inclusivity and unity within the party at the state level.
Speaking about the APC’s performance in the South-South geopolitical zone, which has historically been controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, Ganduje pointed out that the party has made great strides, pointing to its hold on the states of Edo and Cross River.
As part of its ongoing regional expansion efforts, he added, the party’s next strategic goal is Rivers State.
