Delta Police Arrest Two Suspected Criminals, Recover Pistols, Suspected Cocaine, Mercedes-Benz SUV

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two suspected criminals and recovered two locally fabricated Beretta pistols, nine rounds of live ammunition, suspected cocaine, and a Mercedes-Benz SUV during a stop-and-search operation along the Agbarho–Warri Road.
The operation, carried out by officers attached to the Safer Highway Patrol on Saturday, July 25, 2026, also led to the seizure of other incriminating items believed to be linked to criminal activities.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the suspects, identified as Omini Ezeri, 46, and Chinedum Wagbara, 42, both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were intercepted while travelling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ.

Edafe disclosed that during preliminary interrogation, a third occupant of the vehicle, identified as God Knows Ifreke, suddenly fled the scene, escaping into a nearby swamp before he could be apprehended.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, about 200 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder, and two sophisticated mobile phones.
The two suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.
Reacting to the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism.
He reiterated the command’s resolve to sustain the fight against crime, stressing that Delta State would remain a hostile environment for criminals, illegal firearms dealers, and drug traffickers.
The Commissioner also appealed to residents to continue partnering with the police by providing timely and credible information that would assist security agencies in combating crime and maintaining public safety across the state.
