The Nigeria Police Force, Area M command, Idimu, Lagos State, on Friday, October 24, 2025, welcomes CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, FMNIMC & CMC, FCAI, Anipr, Arpa, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, during a familiarisation visit to the Area ‘M’ command. DC Salihu Khan, the Deputy Commissioner Admin of the Lagos State Police Command Ikeja, who represented the Commissioner of Police, reiterated that security remains a priority in Lagos State and promised that more active measures will be put in place to ensure zero crime.

ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, the Area Commander of the Area ‘M’ Command Idimu during the familiarisation event, highlights achievements, challenges, and the importance of community collaboration in maintaining security. Her speech touches on themes of adaptability, innovation, and strategic leadership, emphasising the command’s commitment to integrity, intelligence, and community policing.

Some key points from the speech include that the Area ‘M’ Command has made strides in reducing crime and strengthening community relationships and says community policing is a focus area, with efforts to promote positive growth and address challenges. Moreover, officers also undergo regular training to stay updated on current events and best practices, stating that challenges exist, but there’s a commitment to brainstorming solutions for better community safety.

Collaboration with stakeholders, she said, is crucial for security, echoing the sentiment that “a crime committed to one is a crime committed to all.” as she expressed appreciation for the support of the Royal Fathers, stakeholders, and sister agencies in the Alimosho axis for being a part of the fight against crime and criminality.

ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda acknowledged the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the admin dept of the Lagos State Command, DC Salihu Khan; VIPs; VVIPs; stakeholders; policemen under her leadership (policemenof the command); the tactical squad; the Area Crime Officer of Area ‘M’ Command; the leadership members of PCRC; and other sister agencies.

ACP Tokunbo commended the effort of the DPOs and the Tactical Commanders for their exceptional performance and dedication to the leadership of the Area ‘M’ Command, its community, and its personnel. Assures the attendees that their participation is aimed at assessing operational capabilities, improvement, and fostering collaboration.

ACP Tokunbo emphasises the significant strides made in reducing crime levels, strengthening relationships, and increasing representation of stakeholders in the community. Educational institutions have been supported by this step to promote positive growth and other advancements. Community policing has increased and grown as the menace of what seems tremendous seems reduced to the awareness and regular briefing and stakeholders’ meetings. Officers have demonstrated dedication and commitment to learning the current events through regular off-skill training, and the President’s leadership professionalism leads to learning from the best.

DC Salihu Khan, during his input at the event, acknowledges the challenges faced by the Nigerian police force. He noted that they are constantly brainstorming on how to better prepare for and manage those challenges. He urges the citizens of Lagos City to work together more than ever, as a crime committed to one is a crime committed to all. He requests a standing ovation for the citizens of Lagos City and reminds them of the great struggle against crime and the need to continue leading and striving to shape the future.

He also acknowledges the performance milestone achieved by the Area ‘M’ Command, including mountains of progress, goals, unique achievements, and motivated teams of CSPs, DPOs, tactical commanders, and special agents. They are dedicated to carrying Lagos State’s policy in hand like a GPS instructor, who is not going back but will get to the goal of extra mountains. he said

The PCRC Chairman also mounted the podium to deliver a few messages in praise of the Command’s achievement. He promises a continuous effort to support the Nigerian Police in curbing crime. He also commended the tactical commanders for their outstanding performance and commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, service delivery, integrity, and honesty. He encourages the citizens of Lagos City to work together and work towards ensuring the safety and security of the so-called communist areas in general.

The visit’s high point was when the Commissioner of Police’s large-sized photograph was presented, along with an award of appreciation from Area “M” Command to commemorate the special event. Traditional and cultural dances from many ethnic groups were performed as a show of solidarity and harmony among the residents of Area M Command, Idimu.
