Soldiers return to Ondo prison after 3 days away

1 min read

After three days away, Nigerian Army personnel have returned to Correctional Centers across Ondo State.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu announced the soldiers’ return on Saturday night.

On Wednesday, Akeredolu raised the alarm over the soldiers’ actions, expressing concerns that the move could encourage jailbreak.
The Nigerian Army has allowed good reasoning to prevail in the interest of the people, according to the Governor, who described the return as a welcome development.

“A federal facility like the Correctional Centre should not have been left without security for any reason,” Akeredolu said. The soldiers’ return to the facilities, on the other hand, is a positive development.

“The Federal Government owns both the Nigerian Army and the Correctional Centres. Continuous synergy is required. We will also continue to do our best to provide assistance when it is required,” he added.
