1 min readDiemesor Gabriel, a 21-year-old Chemical Engineering student at the University of Benin, received N326,000 as a Christmas present on Friday, December 24, 2021.
Adesola Amusan, an Assistant Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Benin Zonal Command, presented the student with a bank draft for N326,000 (Three Hundred and Twenty-six Thousand Naira).
Gabriel had filed a complaint with the EFCC in September, alleging that N326,000 of his N600,000 scholarship grant had been illegally taken from his account.
The Commission arrested three suspects and recovered N326,000 during its investigation of the petition.
Gabriel was overjoyed when he received the draft and was full of praise and congratulations for the Commission.
“The Commission has done a fantastic job,” he said. When I was called, I was pleasantly surprised. When the money was taken from me by fraudsters, I had lost hope. EFCC has brought a smile to my face today. The funds will be used for my school fees, project, and personal expenses. I owe the EFCC my gratitude.”

However, Amusan assured that the Commission will continue to carry out its responsibilities diligently and provide assistance to victims of fraud while perpetrators are brought to justice.
