APPMEN Commends President Tinubu for Expanding Nigerian Army, Recruiting 28,000 Personnel

The Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishments of Nigeria, APPMEN, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the expansion of the Nigerian Army from eight to twelve divisions and the recruitment of 28,000 additional personnel.
In a statement issued by the APPMEN National Secretariat, the association described the decision as a bold and strategic intervention aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and improving the country’s capacity to tackle insecurity.
APPMEN noted that the President’s approval demonstrates visionary leadership and a clear commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians through a stronger, better-equipped and more responsive military.
According to the Secretariat, the creation of four additional divisions across the country, including the proposed 83 Division in the South-South zone with headquarters in Benin City, Edo State, will enhance operational efficiency, intelligence gathering, and rapid troop deployment.

The association added that the expansion will enable coordinated military operations against terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery and other crimes threatening peace and stability.
APPMEN further stated that the recruitment of 28,000 new personnel will boost the operational capacity of the Nigerian Army, strengthen border security, improve internal security operations, and support ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace in troubled regions.
The association said the President’s decision reflects the administration’s determination to build a safer Nigeria and create an enabling environment for economic growth, investment and national development in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
APPMEN called on Nigerians to support the Armed Forces and other security agencies by providing credible intelligence and cooperating with lawful authorities. It stressed that national security remains a shared responsibility that requires the collective commitment of both government and citizens.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government policies and programs designed to strengthen national security, promote peace, protect communities, and accelerate sustainable development across Nigeria.
