FOGOCOM Steps Up Nationwide Campaign for Tinubu, APC Ahead of 2027, Intensify Preparations for TSG Conference

The Forum of Governing Council Members in Nigeria Tertiary Institutions (FOGOCOM) has intensified its nationwide mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The forum disclosed this in a statement signed by Hon. Benedict Aguele, ANIPR, Chairman, Media, Publicity & ICT Sub-Committee of the FOGOCOM–TSG National Conference Planning Committee, on Thursday, September 3, 2026, following a strategic engagement and nationwide briefing by its leadership.
According to the statement, the engagement provided an opportunity for members across the country to review ongoing activities, assess developments in the tertiary education sector and outline strategies for deeper grassroots engagement and stakeholder participation.
National Chairman of FOGOCOM, Chief (Dr.) Akin-Thomas Babajide, commended members for their loyalty, dedication and contributions towards good governance, educational development and nation-building.
Babajide said the achievements recorded under the Tinubu administration had provided what he described as a strong foundation for sustainable economic growth, educational reforms, infrastructure development and improved governance.
He described FOGOCOM as a strategic platform comprising experienced leaders, policymakers, governing council members and professionals committed to strengthening Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
The national chairman urged members to serve as ambassadors of positive change within their communities, institutions and professional networks by promoting the policies and achievements of the APC-led administration and encouraging greater citizen participation in governance.

A major focus of the engagement was the forthcoming FOGOCOM–TSG National Conference, scheduled for September 29, 2026, at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.
The conference is expected to attract stakeholders from government, academia, industry, development agencies and the private sector to deliberate on issues affecting tertiary education, governance, leadership development, institutional effectiveness and sustainable national development.
FOGOCOM also expressed appreciation to the Minister of Education for what it described as his continued support and commitment to policies and programmes aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s education sector.
The forum said its various committees had intensified preparations for the conference, with the Steering Committee and Finance Committee scheduled to hold a strategic physical meeting on Monday, September 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in Abuja.
Aguele said the meeting would focus on critical issues including conference logistics, funding, partnerships and programme coordination.
He added that committee chairmen had been directed to attend personally or nominate representatives where necessary.
According to him, members of the forum had unanimously pledged their support for the successful hosting of the conference and resolved to mobilise their networks, resources and strategic partnerships towards ensuring an impactful event.
The forum further stated that the conference would provide an opportunity to consolidate support for the APC and strengthen momentum towards the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.
Members are expected to intensify grassroots mobilisation, promote political awareness and communicate the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda across communities nationwide.
FOGOCOM, however, reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, discipline and professionalism, urging members to uphold high ethical standards in all their activities.
The forum said it remained committed to advancing Nigeria’s tertiary education sector while promoting national unity, educational excellence and sustainable development.
