Police Arrest Content Creator “Odogwu of Asaba” Over Alleged Rape of 20-Year-Old Woman

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a popular content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, widely known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” over the alleged rape of a 20-year-old Favour Agbro (F) who later died after reportedly taking her own life.
According to a statement issued by the Command, the arrest followed a petition alleging that on June 1, 2026, the deceased travelled to Asaba at the invitation of the suspect, who had reportedly promised to train her in content creation through a programme advertised on his social media platforms.
Police said that upon arriving in Asaba, the young woman was allegedly taken by the suspect to a hotel, where he allegedly raped her and physically assaulted her. She later returned home in a distressed state and informed her parents of the alleged incident.

Investigators further disclosed that before her death, the woman recorded a video in which she recounted her ordeal and expressed the emotional trauma she had suffered following the alleged assault. She subsequently ingested a toxic substance in an apparent act of suicide and later died despite efforts to save her.
Following the petition, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, ordered the Area Commander in Effurun to immediately launch a comprehensive investigation into the allegations. Acting on the directive, police operatives arrested Ogbonna, who is said to have made useful statements during preliminary interrogation. The investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.
CP Oyeniyi assured the bereaved family and members of the public that the Command would conduct a thorough, impartial and professional investigation, stressing that no aspect of the allegations would be overlooked. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that anyone found culpable is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
