Woman was arrested after stabbing a man to death in Ogun

THEWILL, DECEMBER 30TH – A 32-year-old fashion designer has been arrested in Ogun State for allegedly stabbing Muhammed Ahmed to death with a broken bottle.

Omowunmi Oyapitan, the suspect, was apprehended on December 29, 2021.

Her arrest comes after police at Onipanu divisional headquarters received a distress call from Stephen Udo, the managing director of Splendour Guest Inn.

Udo told police that an argument broke out between two of his hotel guests, and the suspect decided to intervene, breaking a bottle and stabbing the victim in the neck in the process.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident to reporters in Abeokuta on Thursday.

The DPO Onipanu division, CSP Bamidele job, quickly mobilised his men and moved to the scene, where the 30-year-old victim was found in a pool of his own blood, according to Oyeyemi.

According to him, the suspect was quickly apprehended, while the victim was rushed to State Hospital Ota and pronounced dead.

According to preliminary investigations, the victim had been hiding in the hotel since Monday, December 27th, 2021, after stealing N600,000 from his boss at the Hayorlak Hotel, where he worked as a bartender.

It was also learned that he used some of the stolen money to lodge some of his friends, and that he had an altercation with one of the people he lodged in the hotel because he accused him of stealing some of his money, which resulted in a heated exchange of words between them.

The suspect, who claimed to know the other boy on their street, intervened, and when the deceased was not pleased with her intervention, he punched her in the mouth, and she retaliated by breaking a bottle and stabbing him in the neck.

Meanwhile, CP Lanre Bankole, the Commissioner of Police, has ordered that the suspect be immediately transferred to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department’s homicide section for a thorough investigation and prosecution.
