Wike: PDP’s chances improve if Bauchi Gov. is chosen as the presidential candidate for 2023

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has a chance of winning the presidential election in 2023 if his counterpart in Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, is elected as the party’s candidate.

Wike lamented that Nigeria was in a serious state of emergency due to insecurity, and that it was past time for the Peoples Democratic Party to reclaim power and save the country.

The governor said this while responding to questions from journalists during a visit to Bauchi State on Saturday, adding that God would not forgive the PDP if it failed to respond to Nigerians’ desire for the party to return to power.

“One of my resolutions for the year 2022 is to make Nigeria better than it was last year,” he said. It’s also to keep the PDP united, because if the party makes the mistake of not listening to Nigerians, God will have a hard time forgiving them.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to save Nigeria.” We Christians understand that when the Israelites faced difficulties, God sent Moses to lead them. Nigeria is in serious trouble right now, and it is the PDP that will lead the country out of it. As a result, we must accept that responsibility. If God makes it so that the ticket falls on him (Bala Mohammed), I’d rather believe our chances are very good.

“This insecurity is not the Nigeria we want; it is not the Nigeria where you wake up every morning to find the newspaper reporting that ’40 people have been killed…’ The inability of the so-called government to protect us is the cause of these deaths.”

Mohammed, according to Wike, is more than qualified to be Nigeria’s next president. He said the governor of Bauchi State’s antecedents and achievements in his more than two years in office demonstrated that he could effectively rule the country.

“My brother, Bala, has a lot of experiences,” he said. He worked in the ministry as a director before becoming a senator, then a minister, and finally a governor. And he is qualified to be president based on these alone. Then you’ll consider what he’s doing in Bauchi, as well as his credentials as a first-time governor. How many first-time governors do you see doing that? I was here to flag off projects, and many of my colleagues were here to do the same.

“As a result, the call for him to run for President is not misplaced in the least. Bala has the qualifications to run for President of the United States. He is overqualified in every way. In any case, his interpersonal relationships are second to none, and those calling for him to run for President have recognized the qualities in him.”

Wike was described by Mohammed as tough and the face of the PDP, whom he admired as a leader.

“Wike is always full of pleasant surprises, and today’s visit has exhilarated in me the feeling that I have more than a brother in the Rivers State governor,” he said. He has always been a role model for me. He’s a leader not because he’s a governor or because he’s wealthy, but because of the things he’s made of.”
