Chukwujekwu Uzozie, a merchant and farmer from Ukpor in Anambra’s Nnewi South Local Government Area (LGA), has been kidnapped by unknown people.
Assailants invaded Uzozie’s home in Umudiji Umuohama village, Ukpor, on Saturday morning and fired into the air multiple times before forcing their way inside his compound, according to reports.
Uzozie was transported to an unknown place, according to a family source who requested anonymity, and no contact has been made, while the son, who was seriously injured, was transferred to a hospital for medical care.

Uzozie was Special Adviser to a former chairman of the Nnewi South Local Government Council, according to the source.

Members of St Andrew’s Church Umuoham, where Uzozie worships, have organized special prayers for his release and the quick recovery of his only son, according to the source.
The event was verified by DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, who said a manhunt had been initiated for the abductors.
