On Sunday night, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) slammed the police for arresting former Imo State governorship candidate Uche Nwosu inside the church.

During the arrest, the police were accused of acting like terrorists and desecrating the Church, according to the human rights advocacy group.

On Sunday, Nwosu was apprehended by heavily armed police officers at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Eziama in Obaire, Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to HURIWA, the police acted like terrorists and kidnappers.

The fact that police shot sporadically inside the Church’s vicinity, according to the group, is an unforgivable desecration of the Church’s sanctity.

As a result, the human rights advocacy group demanded that the Police Service Commission (PSC) look into the unprofessional police behavior.

The call was made by HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, in a statement.
