Zulum, who was met by Brig Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo, General Officer Commanding 7 Division of the Army, interacted with and consoled all of the affected soldiers at the Army Hospital at Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri.

The Governor ordered the release of N5 million, which was instantly distributed to all soldiers upon admittance, including those who had nothing to do with the battle of Kala-Balge.
Governor Zulum consoled the soldiers, congratulated and commended them for their heroism and patriotism, accompanied by a state assembly member representing Kala Balge and commissioners for Justice, Local Government, and Emirate Affairs.

In a press statement, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, said that insurgents mounted gun trucks and motorcycles and attacked troops stationed at the Forward Operational Base (FOB) in Rann, killing 26 and capturing the terrorists’ combat vehicles, 18 AK 47 rifles, and one M-21 rifle, as well as a large quantity of ammunition. The military stated that their own troops destroyed a variety of other sorts of equipment.

Even though “regrettably, two officers and five soldiers paid the supreme price, while three people sustained gunshot wounds” and were transferred to the Hospital, the military forced the insurgents “to abandon their purpose and leave in disorder.”
