‘Since I was his Minister, I’ve been speaking out against Buhari’s government.’ Dalung

2 min read

On Monday, Solomon Dalung, the Minister of Youth and Sports during President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term in office, said, “When I was in the Federal Executive Council, FEC, I was one of the most vocal persons against bad policies and ineptitude of government.”

Dalung said this in response to jeers from members of the public who believe he is now merely a government critic because he does not currently hold the position of government official.

“I’ve noticed that some people often assume that I’m speaking out against bad governance now because I’m no longer in government, but what they don’t realize is that when you’re in government, there are established communication protocols in place, and you have direct access to the President or whoever is in charge.” So, if you’re wondering whether I took advantage of all of those opportunities, the answer is yes. “When I was in the Federal Executive Council FEC, I was one of the most vocal people against bad policies and government ineptitude,” Dalung wrote on his well-known Facebook page.

“I have spoken and fought many people I believe to be bad elements in government; these and many other things are done behind the scenes, and I am not asking anyone to stop the mediocre insults against me; however, you should also know that there are many people who are no longer in government today who are silent even against the dangerous things happening in Nigeria today.” I am a man of conscience, and I can’t sleep with my eyes closed when I see how people’s lives have been reduced to statistics, particularly in the north and other parts of the country, and all you expect me to do is remain silent.

“That’s not Solomon Dalung; Solomon Dalung is the man who will tell you the truth whether you like it or not. “I don’t sugarcoat anything.”
