RESPECT ADAMAWA PEOPLE’S WISHES

2 min read

Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies are tasked by the SAVE NIGERIA movement.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Federal Government, and security agencies in the nation have been urged to respect the wishes of the people of Adamawa State by conducting a free, fair, and credible re-run for the Adamawa governorship election scheduled for Saturday, April 15,2023. This is according to the Save Nigeria Movement (SNM), a pro-democracy and rights group dedicated to the protection of democracy and good governance.

Remember that the electoral commission, INEC, declared the governorship election in Adamawa State inconclusive after realising that the cancelled votes exceeded the margin of victory between Mr. Fintiri of the PDP and Aisha Dahiru of the APC, who was leading before the unfortunate disruption by agents allegedly sponsored by the incumbent government of Adamawa state. It is up to well-meaning patriots to censor this propensity to undermine democracy.

There are numerous claims that the incumbent governor is being supported by the ruling party in Adamawa state’s collusion with the electoral commission to rig the results. Our available intelligence indicates that a plot is afoot to declare the PDP candidate the winner and use the rerun as a smokescreen. The whole world is looking.

We demand that INEC and other pertinent organisations honour the preferences of the populace. It has been established that the entire election in Adamawa was marred by irregularities that worked in the incumbent government’s favour. Voter intimidation, ballot box snatching, and other problems were rampant, but the authorities chose to ignore them in order to harm Senator Binani, the only female candidate in the running. We encourage Nigerians to band together and demand that the right thing be done in order to protect democracy.

All pro-democracy organisations and the global community have been notified to focus their attention on the governorship election in Adamawa. We won’t sit back and let democracy be violated. In order to fulfil the wishes of the people of Adamawa, who want to make history by electing the first female governor, we will mobilise a large number of observers to monitor and ensure that the votes of the people count in tomorrow’s rerun.
