The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has announced a plan to embark on an industrial strike. The academic union in a statement obtained by newsmen said the nationwide shut down of Polytechnics will begin May 11, 2022.
MORE recalls that ASUP National President, Anderson Umezurike Ezeibe, had hinted about the industrial action in early February this year. Ezeibe who was addressing members of the union at Hussain Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure, said the union had called off its strike on June 10th, 2021 based on agreements it reached with the Federal Government.
In a report, however, emerging on Tuesday (today), ASUP declared it will commence another nationwide strike action in protest against the non-implementation of the Memorandum of Action reached with the Federal Government in May 2021.
