Three traditional worshippers were abducted and whisked into the forest by suspected kidnappers on Monday after going to a river along the Benin-Abraka road for rituals.
The incident occurred on Monday, July 25, 2022, at approximately 1pm, according to a statement issued by the Commandās Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, on Tuesday.
āThe Command received a complaint that hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers accosted and whisked into the bush three traditional worshippers who had gone to a river along the Benin-Abraka road for prayers,ā the statement said.
When [the] Divisional Police Officer Ugo received the information, he immediately dispatched his operatives to the scene to pursue the hoodlums and possibly rescue the victims.

āWhen the hoodlums realised the operatives were following them, they were forced to abandon their victims and flee into the bush.ā
āThe victimsā families have since been reunited.ā Meanwhile, intensive bush-combing is still being conducted in order to neutralise or apprehend the hoodlums.ā
