The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), has called for more involvement and investment into community policing by stakeholders as a means of helping to deepen morals and make the youths more productive to their immediate environment.
CSP Ebere Amaraizu, the national coordinator of POCACOV made the call in event to mark this year’s world National Sports Day, which is celebrated every 29th August, 2022
CSP Amaraizu who’s also an Olympic Solidarity Sports Administrator, the South East Director of Nationwide League One (NLO) and the Chairman of Enugu State Taekwondo Association with Award and honour of Pillar of Sports in Enugu state maintained that “sports has remained an essential tool for expression of solidarity, peace and sportsmanship as well as fair play and this would aid for a functional community.
“With Community sports practice, we can transmit these all important core values such as tolerance, accepting defeat in the spirit of sportsmanship. You see, Gold medals won by Athletes do not just contain gold but they are symbol and proof of Hardwork, Resilience, Dedication of the winners thus, we need to take sports back to our various communities.

Stakeholders and multi Agencies need to invest in community sports to offer platforms of self discoveries for young fresh Athletes to fill in the widening gap which has remain a source of worry and concern in communities.”
Amaraizu maintained that “Community Sports is a veritable platform of engagement and problem solving mechanism in communities and that is why the Nigeria police Force under the leadership of IGP Usman Alkali Baba,Psc(+), Fdc, NPM has adopted the instrumentality of Community/Rural Sports under its Community policing framework for problem solving in Nigerian Communities and for a safe, peaceful and secured communities.”
Amaraizu who also is a public Relations and Public Communications professional further highlighted that “the Socio Economic venture of sports makes it possible for its usage as a tool for creation of employment opportunities, promotion of culture and values, means of enhancing education amongst our young minds and youths in the community.
Sports as a Juridico-Political Activity affords young minds the opportunity of principles of fair play, Rule of law, Social justice, spirit of sportsmanship because it is a game that is played with rules (you must adapt to each rules) while the Anthropolico Metaphysical Reality of sports deals with sports as a unifier without any barriers be it culture, religion, education status, and race.
