No fewer than nine people were reportedly killed during a gun duel between a Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and bandit terrorists over the weekend in Katsina State.

The terrorists stormed the community in the Batsari Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The terrorists according to reports, arrived in the community on no fewer than 10 motorcycles. While trying to carry out the heinous act, they met fierce resistance from the CJTF.

A source who disclosed the event to Vanguard Newspaper said five among the terrorists were arrested during the attack while nine were killed.

He disclosed further that the CJTF team confiscated nine out of the ten motorcycles the terrorists rode into the community.

The source said out of the 10 motorcycles used by bandits, only one escaped from the town. It was gathered that the assailants had earlier attacked the community and abducted some residents.
However, they met their waterloo this time, the source told journalists, noting that the civilian joint task force is at strategic positions in the area.

The State Command of the Nigeria Police Force are, however yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
