Ndigbo, under the auspices of Eze Chika Nwokedi, the Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo, Chairman Council of Ndi Eze Igbo Lagos, and President of the Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association of Nigeria, paid their support over the forthcoming 15th-year coronation anniversary of HRM Oba Nureni Alani Akinremi Olomitutu, Ilufemiloye, Kudeyibu 1, Onijegun of Ijegun.

During the presentation of gifts and monetary support, Eze Chika Nwokedi, who represented the Ndigbos in Ijegun, told the celebrant, HRM Oba Nureni Alani, and his council of chiefs that the Igbo in the environment had always kept to a peaceful co-existence with other tribes and the rulership of Ijegun; however, it is important to note that hearsay and gossip against Igbo should be shunned, for the Igbo believe in unity and love.

Recall that Eze Chika Nwokedi’s intervention prevented an ethnic conflict between the Igbo and Yoruba tribes from erupting during the most recent national elections. This led Eze Chika to reiterate reassuringly that Ndigbo, regardless of tribe and culture, aligns with the leadership of their community; they are supportive of a course such as this (coronation) and will gather in large numbers to demonstrate unity on the designated anniversary date by presenting cash and other benefits.

Eze Chika added that the Ndigbo in Ijegun Ijeododo will attend the coronation in accordance with the official invitation of the anniversary coronation, which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, May 20th, and conclude on Sunday, June 15th (the grand finale), and that all proper procedures will be followed. Commend HRM Oba Nureni Alani Akinremi for his peaceful rule free from land-grabbing problems, in contrast to other parts of the state. Urge HRM to continue the good work.

As a token of gratitude, HRM Oba Nureni Alani Akinremi promised that the Igbos and other tribes present would be highly respected. According to him, Eze Chika Nwokedi should ignore baseless allegations since they have no bearing on his authority as the Oba of Ijegun. He commended the Ndigbo for their financial and in-kind assistance. In addition, he prayed for the safety of the Ndigbos and pledged to welcome them sensibly that day by giving them VIP treatment and a unique canopy as a sign of his generosity.

Ndigbos under the fold of Eze Chika Nwokedi who attended the courtesy visit include Cabinet Chiefs of Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo Chief Emeka Onwukaobi (Onowu), Chief Dr. Godwin Anaeme, High Chief Dr. Ndubuisi Ebem(Uru ka Na Chukwu), and Chief Martin Chikezie; executives and members of the Igbo-speaking community Mr. Martins Okezie (Chairman), Chioma Nwokolo, Mrs. Chioma Nwosu, Vera Jonas, Igboname Anna, Chinyere Eke, Odo Modester, Oge Barnabas, Rita Anagbogu, Mrs. Ngozi Ebirim, Patricia Obiora, Obianuju Ononiwu, Chuks Ogbua, Juliet Ndukwe, Nwatu Chiwendu, Victoria Onyeka, Chinwe Obiekezie, Favour Udeh, Chika Chinenye, and Mr. Odoemena Charles.
