The Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association of Nigeria on Saturday July 5th,2025 commissioned a Permanent Secretariat in Ijegun area of Lagos State during the July meeting. The actualisation of the long term plan was spurned to completion by members of the associations’ commitment as revealed to Naomisophysblog.
The Secretariat commissioning saw the presence of the vice chairman of Ikotun Igando LCDA Hon (Mrs) Mojisola Ayinke Badmus accompanied by her entourage, executives and members of Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association of Nigeria, invited guests and a contingent of security operatives led by CSP Kenneth Ogbeifun, DPO Isheri Police Division. The commissioning of the new secretariat is said to have achieved completion after one year of commencement plan and the association fulfilled a major part of its goals and objectives in over 9 years of establishment.
Speaking to the president of the association, Eze (Dr) Chika Nwokedi, he said, building a permanent secretariat should be foremost for associations or groups to avoid meeting in improper places when the need arises; says leadership includes that the interest of your followers must be a priority. He revealed that the associations’ knack for members’ welfare has led to securing an allocation of over 150 plots of land at a low cost, members also benefit from zero interest loans for businesses, there is life saving opportunities which includes money donation for sick members, sponsoring of events like birthdays, a child dedication event, burial or any other form of ceremony.
He further said that, sponsoring of out of school children, the less privileged and provision for the widows and motherless babies is also part of what the association does for various communities. Eze Chika affirmed that after the commissioning, members are allowed to hold personal events for free at the event ground of the Secretariat Complex; moreso, the event ground is officially open to those who will like to rent for events, and proceeds from these events will be redirected into more developments for the association, he said.
Eze Chika Nwokedi also called out the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo and Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos to emulate the project of ensuring a permanent secretariat for Ndigbos. He said both Igbo organizations has existed for over 30 years in Lagos with no permanent secretariat which is inappropriate; advise leaders of these Igbo organizations to focus on enhancing the organization not milk its purse for personal gains.
Some executives of the executives of the Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association which includes the vice president Amb. Godswill Chukwuemeka Ogbuka, the second vice president Rev. Dr. Moses CC Okwuosa, Chief Dr. Godwin Anaeme, the task force chairman High Chief Ndubisi Urukanachukwu and Ifeanyi Agbo(member) who spoke with the press on the commissioning appraised the effort of the visionary leader Eze Chika Nwokedi who put into perspective the importance of the permanent secretariat project. They revealed the association will be embarking on a remarkable general awards program during its 10 Years anniversary in december; they affirmed the association has succeeded in the last 9years due to leadership transparency, patience, tenacity, hard work, dedication and unison, urge other groups or association to follow suit to achieve good results.They also affirmed the availability of funds for members in loans and grants, provision for widows twice a year and other benefits for members.
At the event, Chief Sunday Udeh, the President General of Igbo Speaking Community Lagos State commended the permanent secretariat achievement by the Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association, recounts efforts made to actualise same results for Igbo Speaking Community which has yielded no results so far. He says he is challenged to make more efforts to see to the permanent secretariat project to ensure his dedication to the course of leadership. Meanwhile, in response to the APC campaign for the support of Ndigbo in the forth coming local government election made by Hon. Mrs Mojisola and his entourage, Chief Sunday Udeh raised concerns over Igbos being relegated to the background after full participation during elections resulting in activeness in subsequent elections, urge Igbo inclusive governance.
Hon. Mrs Mojisola Ayinke Badmus accompanied by some APC executives and stakeholders at the commissioning event of the Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association applauded Eze Chika Nwokedi for his exemplary leadership qualities and his non- tribalistic approach towards ensuring peaceful coexistence of Igbos in the Ijegun Ijeododo community. In the bid to rally the support of Ndigbo in the forth coming election, Hon. Mojisola recounted the commitment of APC in Iba Local Government area of Lagos State in terms of Infrastructural development and Security Enhancements, urge Ndigbo not to relent in voting APC leadership in the forth coming local government elections. Eze Chika in response promised Ndigbo who are residents under the Iba LGA will support APC at the oncoming local government elections, urge APC to also accommodate Igbo inclusivity in leadership positions.
