On Thursday, August 28, 2025, the Ndi Igbo Buru’otu Association of Nigeria, led by its founder Eze Chika Nwokedi and members of the association’s executive committee, presented “The best police officer” award for 2025 to the Area M Command’s police officers operating under the auspices of ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda. The event features speeches, award presentations, and interactions between the awardee, the association’s leader, Eze Chika Nwokedi, and other attendees.
The awardees were ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda (Area Commander, Area M); CSP Salako Babatunde (O/C Anti-Cultism Area M); CSP Nwokolo Jude (O/C Patrol and Guide Area M); CSP Osiugwu Mazemum (Area Crime Officer Area M); CSP Odoh Ugochukwu (Area Traffic Officer, Area M); and Insp. Fagbohungbe Raphael (P.A. Area Commander). They were recognised as part of the associations’ periodical mission to promote and appreciate the efforts of the Nigerian Police.
As part of this year’s goal and objectives, the association has recognised more than 1000 police officers for their exceptional contribution to humanity in 2025. The association’s founder, Eze Chika Nwokedi, noted that this month’s award is especially noteworthy in light of his numerous accomplishments during the month of August, including his birthdate on August 4th, his marriage anniversary on August 25th, and his receipt of the first police award on August 12th, among other accomplishments the month has seen thus far.
Eze Chika Nwokedi notes at the ceremony that the association has been honouring exceptional police personnel for a decade.He greatly appreciated the officers’ commitment to duty and service to humanity.In addition, he praised Area Commander ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda’s tenacity to serve and commended her for including the command officers in a number of trainings, such as the just-concluded health and fitness exercises, in an effort to maintain officers’ fitness, well-being, and optimal performance.He claims that the different engaging activities demonstrate the officers’ long-term effectiveness.

In order to motivate police officers and others in attendance to continue their excellent work without engaging in any misconduct that might damage their reputation as law enforcement officials, Eze Chika Nwokedi offered words of wisdom and encouragement that would promote personal development.He said that his association with the Nigerian police, which began more than 30 years ago, had given him recognition and networking opportunities.
He said the award serves as a celebration of excellence in policing while promoting a culture of high standards and professionalism within the force. He urged officers to maintain tenable standards in his congratulatory speech.
ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda dedicated the awards given by the Ndi Igbo Buru’otu Association to the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, and commended all the qualifying award personnel for their hard work and dedication to policing. She told the awardees that hard work is more than just monetary rewards and encouraged the officers to keep up with the pace of the Nigerian Police Force.
According to ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, it is of importance that officers uphold professionalism and must reiterate the slogan “more work” as pronounced by the Commissioner of Police of Lagos State, C.P. Olohundare. She reaffirmed her commitment to uphold moral principles in the Nigerian police force and expressed gratitude to the association for the honour. Urged the awarded officers to sustain effective policing and prayed for God’s continued support and replenishment.
CSP Agatha Eze, the DPO of Idimu Division, was also recognised by the association; she applauded the effort of Eze Chika Nwokedi for his continuous support of the Nigeria Police and expressed gratitude to the association for the unexpected honour.
The Ndi Igbo Buru’otu Association paired the awards with gifts and noted that awardees are eligible for cash gifts of N100,000 and above if recommended thrice, saying this is part of the association’s modus operandi.
