Lagos Boat Mishap: A Compassionate Perspective and Recommendation for Future reference.

The Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area – Hon. Ramotalai Akinlola-Hassan sympathised with the families of victims who lost their lives in a boat mishap which occurred on Friday night – 8th July, 2022, at Mile 2 area of Lagos State.

The council Chairman, while on an empathy visit alongside the MD (Lagferry) Hon. Ladi Balogun visited the Ovori of ibeshe kingdom Oba Gausu Alani Rasaq, on Sunday, stated that the boat mishap was very unfortunate and sad, because most of the victims were on their way to Ibeshe, a community in Oriade LCDA, to celebrate the muslim festival, Eid-El-Kabir when the boat they boarded at Mile 2 capsized and all the 16passangers on board were feared dead.

Hon. Akinola – Hassan adjudged the incident as a colossal irreparable and incalculable loss to the Ibeshe Community and the entire Lagos State.

While praying for the repose of their souls, Hon. Akinlola-Hassan appealed to boat operators and passengers using the waterways to always comply with all safety rules (live jackets) as laid down by relevant authorities, just so as to prevent unnecessary and avoidable loss of lives in water transportation sector, in the nearest future.
