A FCT High Court in Abuja, Nigeria, has sentenced Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, to d£@th by hanging for culpable h0m!c!de resulting in her d£@th on April 8, 2022.
The court’s judgment, delivered by Justice Nwosu-Iheme, found Nwachukwu guilty of the 23-count charge brought against him by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (OAGF).
The charges included culpable h0m!c!de punishable with d£@th, criminal intimidation, cru£lt¥ to children, and spousal b@tt£r¥, among others.
During the trial, 17 witnesses, including Osinachi’s two children, testified against Nwachukwu.
The prosecution tendered 25 documents as exhibits, while the defense called five witnesses and tendered four exhibits.
In his allocutus, Nwachukwu’s counsel, Reginald Nwali, pleaded for leniency, but the prosecution counsel, Mrs. Aderonke Imala, urged the court to apply the full force of the law.
The court sentenced Nwachukwu to:
1. D£@th by hanging on Count 1 (culpable homicide)
2. 2 years imprisonment on Counts 2, 3, 8, 9, 12, 13, and 18
3. 6 months imprisonment on Count 10
4. 3 years imprisonment on Count 11
5. N500,000 fine on Count 6
6. N200,000 fine on Count 7
