Mr and Mrs Chima gladly welcomed HRH Chika Nwokedi, cabinet members, DC Okezie and friends who had come to the rescue of the couple upon the delivery of a set of triplets but stranded at the hospital unable to pay outstanding bills due to lack of funds.
The couple asked for assistance from the public as they couldn’t pay for the treatment and delivery of the triplets before and after delivery. Upon the public request, Eze Okpoko swinged into action by reaching out to the couple in cash and kind as well as his cabinet chiefs and friends who accompanied him to Success Land Clinic & Maternity Centre Ijegun Ijagemo to give humanitarian support.
Mr Chima, the father of 4, a petty trader and husband to the mother of the triplets Mrs Chima, narrated the ordeal encountered during and after the delivery, said his wife had to go through Caesarian session to deliver the babies and he could not afford the bill charged thereafter which had prompted his public request. The situation was almost going out of hand before Eze Okpoko located them. He thanked Eze Chika Nwokedi for his kind gesture, appreciated his humanitarian services especially at a very difficult period where they had almost lost all hope. Received cash gifts of N350,000, baby clothes and toiletries, baby foods, cartons of indomie and other food items as well as individual support from friends of Eze Okpoko 1.
The Doctor, Mr. Owoeye who delivered the new born babies also told his side of the whole ordeal, said the couple came in on emergency without any proper medication or scan prior to the due date of delivery. He said upon their arrival, Mrs Chima was unconscious and breathless, he implored all medical measures to resuscitate the pregnant woman to make sure she delivered her babies in peace. After delivery, the couple didn’t have money for hospital bills or proper food for the nursing mother.
The doctor with the help of a matron Mrs Francisca obigbo was able to create a conducive and healthy environment for the triplets and their mother but implored that they seek public assistance to help sort their bills.
Upon arrival Eze Okpoko was received by the Obi of Ijagemo Ijegun and his entourage, he prayed earnestly for the visiting royal, he said Eze Chika leads an exemplary lifestyle as a leader that he is and would always be respected based on the humanitarian roles he has played in the life of the less privileged in the society and how he has always carried his subjects along on all his kingly activities. Prayed for his long life in good health and happiness.

Eze Chika Nwokedi told the media present why he had decided to embark on the journey as seen. He said he is never happy to see anyone impoverished and stranded in life as this is a position he had experienced during his road to the top. Said he feels fulfilled whenever he is able to liberate the down trodden and hopeless in the society, promised to support the new born babies to a certain stage, help both parents start up a business to help improve their financial situation to a reasonable length where they can fend for the kids welfare conveniently.
