On 4 April 2026 at about 0447hrs, a distress call was received from a resident of Full Current Compound, Alihame, Agbor, reporting that a group of about eight-armed robbers were attempting to forcefully gain access into their premises. Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agbor Division, immediately coordinated and deployed the Anti-Crime Patrol team to the scene.

Upon arrival, one of the suspects, later identified as Emeka Ernest ‘M’, aged 41 years, of Ukpo, Anambra State, had been subdued by residents of the compound during a struggle. The suspect, who sustained injuries in the process, was taken into custody and rushed to the General Hospital, Agbor, where he is currently receiving treatment.
A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of one live cartridge from the suspect, while two expended cartridges, a battle axe, a red cloth suspected to have been used as a face mask, and the suspect’s mobile phone were also recovered.

In a follow-up operation on 6 April 2026, based on the suspect’s confession, operatives recovered one locally fabricated single-barrel short gun concealed at a location close to the scene in Alihame, Agbor.
Investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the gang who are currently at large.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, commends the prompt coordination by the DPO, Agbor Division, the swift response of operatives, and the vigilance of the residents. He assures the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and urges residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the Police.
