Delta Police Arrest 2 Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Gun, Live Cartridges, and Stolen Vehicle

The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, through proactive policing, has recorded operational successes in its sustained effort to rid the State of criminal elements.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS/MOTORCYCLE SNATCHERS; RECOVERY OF ONE LOCALLY MADE CUT-TO-SIZE GUN AND TWO LIVE CARTRIDGES
On 31 March 2026 at about 1945hrs, operatives of Agbor Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer while on anti-crime patrol conducting stop-and-search duty at College Junction, Agbor, intercepted two suspects, namely Julius Godday, male, aged 31 years, and Mzemeke Peter, male, aged 28 years, who were riding on a motorcycle.
On sighting the police, the suspects attempted to flee but were swiftly pursued and arrested. A search conducted on them led to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size double-barrelled gun loaded with two live cartridges.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of the Eiye confraternity and are linked to a series of motorcycle snatching incidents within the area. The suspects have confessed to the crime, and are currently in custody. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Asaba, for further discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
RECOVERY OF SUSPECTED STOLEN VEHICLE WITH VANDALIZED ITEMS
On 30 March 2026 at about 1330hrs, a report was received at Sapele Division from a concerned citizen who alleged that he sighted a Toyota Sienna bus conveying suspected vandalised items, including iron cuts and a gas cylinder.
Acting on the information, a patrol team under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer was deployed to the scene. On sighting the police, the hoodlums abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush.
The vehicle was recovered and towed to the station. Preliminary investigation has commenced, while efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi psc, acipm, mnips, commended the operatives and urged residents to support the police with credible information, assuring that the Command will sustain its efforts in combating crime across the State.
The CP further encourages members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
