Rev. Father Osia, a well-known Catholic priest in Edo State’s Ikabigbo community and Etsako West Local Government Area, was abducted by assailants early on Sunday morning.

As the victim was getting ready for Sunday Mass, gunmen broke down his door and took him away.
The community vigilante group is already searching the bush to ensure the priest is recovered, according to a source who requested anonymity in the community.

A boy from the neighbourhood who was looking for the reverend father was shot, the source claimed, and the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Traditional leader of the neighbourhood, Bramah Alegeh, confirmed the incident and revealed that steps are being taken to secure the Catholic Priest’s release.
He added that the Army was searching the bush for the cleric in coordination with neighbourhood vigilantes.

SP When contacted, state Command spokesman Chidi Nwanbor promised to respond, but as of the time this report was filed, he had not.

Another development involves the shooting deaths of two alleged armed robbers by the Edo State police command.
It was discovered that the suspects robbed a gas station early on Sunday in Benin city.

After their heist at the gas station, the robbers made their way to another location, where the police engaged them in a duel.

The command’s spokesperson confirmed the development and mentioned that other gang members managed to escape hurt.

He claimed that the police had learned that armed robbers had broken into the Rubec Oil and Gas Station off Murtala Mohamed Way in Benin City.

The spokesperson claimed that when the police and Vigilante arrived on the scene right away, they found that they had relocated.
