Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 General Elections.
After the counting of the total votes by accredited delegates at the presidential primary held at the MKO National Stadium, Abuja, Abubakar scored 371 votes to beat his closest rival, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who scored 273 votes.
Abubakar was declared winner of the election by the Chairman of the National Convention Planning Committee of the party, Senate David Mark, at 11.49pm.
Former Senate President, Abubakar Olusola Saraki, also made a decent showing by scoring 70 votes. He was followed by Governor Udom Emmanuel with 38 votes.
Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, scored 29 votes, while former Senate President, Pius Anyim, scored 14 votes. Others are, Sam Ohuabunwa who scored one vote and Oliver Teriela Diana who also scored one vote.

A total 763 delegates voted in the primary election. 12 votes were voided.
Earlier today, Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, had announced his withdrawal from the primary election to support Abubakar.
