Dr. Alu said that the Union had signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Nasarawa State Government and the University Council, but that he had broken his pledge.
“More alarming,” says the Union Chairman, “is the fact that the University Management has been mainstreaming the Excess Workload of other sister unions within the same University for over four years now, leaving ASUU out.”
“The Union strongly opposes the unjust treatment meted out to its members.
Other Union requests include: inadequate university funding, domestication and implementation of a compulsory retirement age (70 years) for academic staff professorial cadre, and a downward revision of the high tax system, among others.
The Union head further stated that if the government does not satisfy their requests, the best option is to launch an indefinite industrial strike at Nasarawa State University Keffi to urge their demands.
