Akwa Ibom: South-South Socio Cultural Organisation commence its first physical executive meeting for the year, See details….

South- South Socio Cultural Organisation is a collation of individuals from the south south region of the country with the aim of a common cause. The Akwa Ibom Chapter of the organisation held its first physical Executive meeting for the year on the 14th October, 2022 at Abak LGA HQ.
The meeting started with an opening prayer by Hon Ekaobong Ekpo at about 3:37pm.The 10 members in attendance also introduced themselves, LGA, and their occupations.
CHAIRMAN OPENING REMARKS:
The state Chairman Comrade Kufre Hanson commenced the meeting as he introduced the south south Socio-Cultural Organization to the members once again.
He recounted the formation of the group on how it came to be in 2017, a group put together by the president General and National leader Dr Andy Best. He spoke about the aims and objectives of the organization, he sensitized and enlightened the people of the south south on the need for them to come together and forge ahead, agitate, and demand for their rights as the provider of the wealth for the nation Nigeria.
CHAPTER CHAIRMEN’S REPORT:
The 10 chapter chairmen who also attended the meeting reports that effort has been intensifed in their respective local government areas to sensitize, and enlighten the people on the programs and benefits of the organization. Most of the cordinators have formed their team and are doing well by having physical meetings from time to time.
APPOINTMENT OF STATE OFFICERSÂ
The following state executive vacant positions were filled after a well conducted election into these offices, They are as follows: Comr. Edet Micha Archibong– State youth leader, from Itu LGA, Obong Emmanuel Agabus—As the state auditor, from Ukanafun LGA, Dr Samuel Etteh— state treasurer, from Obot Akara LGA, Comr. Idongesit Bassey— State financial secretary, from Ukanafun LGA, Comr.Ekponobong Ekpo—Ex Officio 1.
On mobilization and sensitization of more members to the group, the state secretary Hon Ekaobong Ekpo, admonished all members to be up and doing by carrying out enlightenment campaign on the need for us to fight and gain our freedom from the hands of our oppressors so that our generation yet unborn will know that yes of a truth we have created a solid platform for them.
CULTURAL DAY CELEBRATION:
The chairman suggested that a day should be fixed between before the year ends for cultural day celebration, but the state secretary Hon Ekaobong Ekpo, said that such programs may not be proper for now since we are yet to cover most of the LGAs in terms of awareness. He said the program will be done in the nearest future when there is a wide range of South South presence in all the 31 LGAS of Akwa Ibom State.
The state secretary also told the people that the south south multipurpose cooperative society, will soon be launched in the state to create avenue for members to have access to loans and grants as well.
On Empowerment and skills acquisition program, the state secretary said the program will be done zone by zone once the arrangements have been concluded by the facilitators in the organization.

GENERALS:
Creation of state purse through dues and personal donation’s was suggested by the state secretary. But the house generally agreed that a donation of #1000 from each chapter will be okay and it was generally accepted by all .
A.O.B:
Under AOB our Chairman advised all chapters to ldentify/liase with the police area commanders/ DPO in their respective local government areas well, so that they can help their members in time of any trouble. However, the state Exco also agreed that the state Exco meeting will be taking place every third Friday of every month, at Abak LGA headquarters till further notice.
VOTE OF THANKS:
Under vote of thanks, our state assistant financial secretary Rev. Dr Nyong employed all members to join hand with our president Dr Andy Best for the success of the organization so as to achieve our desired set goals.
ADJOURNMENT:
In the absence of any further discussion, a motion for adjournment was moved by our youth leader comrade Micha Archibong, and was seconded by comrade Idongesit Bassey at about 6:19pm. The closing prayer was offered by Dr Samuel Etteh. Refreshment continued till about 6:30pm.
On behalf of the entire state Exco, I Hon Ekaobong Ekpo wish to thank our able state Chairman Comrade Kufre Hanson for his love, kindness and a successful hosting of the first ever physical executive state meeting in Akwa Ibom State, he said.
Ekaobong offered prayers to God to replenish the pocket of the state chairman , as he wished him more wisdom to pilot the affairs of south south Socio-Cultural Organization in Akwa Ibom State.
