Police Recover AK-47, Two Pump-Action Guns, 55 Rounds of Ammunition, Arrest Three Suspected Cultists in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has recovered an AK-47 rifle, two pump-action guns, 55 rounds of live ammunition and seven live cartridges in separate operations targeting suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists across the state.
The command also arrested three suspected members of the Black Axe confraternity during an intelligence-led operation in Kokori, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the first operation was carried out at about 9:00 p.m. on October 4, 2026, when operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), acting on credible intelligence, stormed a suspected kidnappers and armed robbers’ hideout in a bush around Uduere Community, Ughelli North LGA.
Edafe said the suspects opened fire on the operatives when they sighted them, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
He said the suspects eventually fled the scene after they were unable to withstand the operatives’ superior firepower.
A subsequent search of the hideout, according to the police, led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, 55 rounds of live ammunition, one pump-action gun, seven live cartridges, a knife, a cutlass and a mobile phone.
The command said a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing suspects.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS) reportedly arrested three suspected Black Axe cultists in Kokori Community, Ethiope East LGA.
The operation was conducted at about 12:45 a.m. on October 5, 2026, following intelligence that suspected members of the group were holding a meeting at a location along Ekrakra Road, Kokori.
According to the police, the suspects fled in different directions upon sighting the operatives, but three of them were apprehended.
They were identified as Uzubu Ufuoma, 33; Solomon Ovie, 27; and Remember Emuere, 31.
The police said further investigation led operatives to an abandoned building at Okodjerhe Village, Kokori, where an automatic pump-action gun allegedly belonging to the group was recovered.
The three suspects remain in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the group who escaped during the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, warned kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists that the command would continue to identify and dismantle criminal hideouts and bring those involved in criminal activities to justice.

The Commissioner also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide the police with credible information about suspicious persons and activities in their communities.
