2023: I don’t mind if the next Nigerian president is Christian or Muslim—Bishop Okonkwo

1 min read

Bishop Mike Okonkwo of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, TREM, has warned Nigerians against electing their next president based on religion or tribe.

Okonkwo, on the other hand, has stated that he is unconcerned about whether Nigeria’s next president is a Christian or a Muslim.

On Arise TV, a founding member of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, said that Nigerians should elect a president who can deliver on democracy’s dividends.

“As far as the politics of this nation are concerned, we must rid ourselves of party politics, religious politics, and personal interests and focus on who can deliver to us the dividends of democracy,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter whether he is a Christian or a Muslim; what matters is that he is interested in this country, and Nigeria has a lot of them.”

“We’ve been doing this for far too long. Where have religious politics, party politics, and tribal politics led us? It’s time, in my opinion, to go back to the drawing board and admit that we’ve failed and start doing things the right way.”
